Greenwich Polo Club Announces 2019 High-Goal Season

Six Teams to Compete in 2nd Annual Shreve, Crump & Low Cup

Greenwich, CT. – June 4, 2019 – This Sunday, June 9th, the Greenwich Polo Club will open to the public, kicking off its 39th season of high-goal polo with the second annual 16-goal Shreve, Crump & Low Cup. A record six polo teams will compete, including two new teams from Greenwich and New York City. Greenwich Polo Club is proud to announce the full roster:

Bracket A
Gardenvale: Shane Finemore A, Matt Coppola 4, Matt Grimes 6, and Tatin Zubiaurre 5

The draw of the tournament took place on Thursday, May 30th, to determine the brackets. Teams will compete in cross brackets and the top finishers will meet on the final on Sunday, June 16th. The Round 1 will start on June 6th, Hawk Hill vs Altaris, continuing on June 7th Reelay vs. The Island House and White Birch vs. Gardenvale. The first public match will take place on June 9th at 3:00 p.m., gates open at 1:00 p.m. with two NY-based teams, Hawk Hill and The Island House, as part of the Second Round.

On opening day, the club invites the public to the brand-new CTC&G’s (Connecticut Cottages & Gardens) Polo Pub created within the Grandstand. CTC&G partnered with luxury builder Apex Projects and award-winning architect Studio Bartolotta to create a VIP pub with a Fernet-Branca pop-up bar and tennis table by 11 Ravens. A special ribbon cutting ceremony with one of the polo players and the partners on the project, as well as special guests, will take place at 1pm on June 9th.

New ticket options have been added due to popular demand: West End tickets will be available on June 9th, guests may choose from a picnic table inside the large tent or umbrellas on the lawn. Luxury Marketing Council will take over the West End to host its 5th Family Polo Day on June 23rd, Greenwich Cars & Coffee will bring unique jaw dropping collectible cars to our fans on June 30th. Tastings will be offered throughout the season, from delicious vodka cocktails to beer and vermouths, as curated by The Cup Bearer.

The best ticket to the match is still the CTC&G’s Players’ Lounge VIP at Greenwich Polo Club, furnished by Fermob with an exclusive VIP lounge by NEA Studio. The Players’ Lounge will feature a meet and greet with polo players, great music, premium bar with The Cup Bearer, and food and drink tastings. Tickets begin at $150 with access for two guests to the Players’ Lounge with VIP parking, bistro and open lawn seating, and much more. Private lounge suites for 10, inclusive of food and beverage, are available starting at $2,500.

Each polo Sunday from 1-3 p.m., fans may also have the opportunity to tour The Brant Foundation Art Study Center, dedicated to promoting the education and appreciation of contemporary art and design, which is located adjacent to the field and is now featuring an exhibition Urs Fischer: ERROR, on view from May – October 2019.

The Veuve Clicquot After Polo will keep the good times rolling with live music and DJs each polo Sunday after the award ceremony by the Pony Bar. Polo fans are encouraged to join the After Polo and meet their favorite polo players while enjoying a glass of Veuve Clicquot champagne, or their favorite cocktail from The Cup Bearer.

Greenwich Polo Club continues to elevate the polo experience to make every match an event to remember. Whether fans choose to picnic on the sidelines or go the VIP route, there are plenty of options to delight even the most discerning guests. Fans can enjoy delicacies from onsite food trucks with local vendors such as Caffe Bon, Dough Girls, Gyro Uno, Longsford’s Ice Cream and Lobstercraft. Palmer’s Darien will provide a full menu of food and drinks for those with private lounges, cabanas and box seating.

Audi of America and its Tri-State dealers is the official car partner for the 2019 season. Hublot is the official timekeeper and will host a private event during the Shreve, Crump & Low final. Hospital for Special Surgery Stamford is back on the roster of premier sponsors for a fourth season, Maria Mendelsohn exclusive equestrian properties joined us for a third season, and Barbados will host their successful field side cabana for a third consecutive year, other great partners and sponsors this season include Societe Generale, Kempton & Co, and 11 Ravens.

Polo matches are open to the public on Sundays June 9th – September 8th (some dates excluded). The second 16-goal Shreve, Crump & Low Cup will be played June 9th and June 16th, followed by the United States Polo Association Monty Waterbury on June 23rd and June 30th, the debut of the American Cup on July 14th, and 21st, with the season concluding with the East Coast Open on August 25th, Sept. 1st and 8th.

Tickets may be purchased online and range from $40 per car for lawn seating, $60 per car for grandstand seating, $100 for West Lawn seating, $300 for box seats (seats 4) and $600 for private cabanas (for 12-20 guests).
